Grimshack · A small independent game studio

Deep in the woods,
a little light.

A game begins with a spark of an idea.
Then comes the work of finding what it could become.

Come see how a world takes shape
A trog carrying a lantern along a moonlit forest path.

Following an idea

Curiosity finds a path.

We follow an idea, explore possible directions, and choose something to build toward.

Seeing the possibility

A flash of inspiration.

Fresh ideas find us in unexpected ways.

A rope bridge leading across a forest river toward a lantern.

Building a prototype

One step makes it real.

We build a prototype, put it to the test, and learn from the places where it gives way.

Learning from a setback

Even here, a way forward.

We pause, keep what we’ve learned, and find a different approach.

A fresh approach

We find our feet again.

We use what we’ve learned to try a new approach and keep building.

Four goblins gathering around a table of dice near the cabin.

Bringing the pieces together

Strange pieces find their place.

We bring systems, characters, and world together, then playtest, listen, and refine how they work as a whole.

Returning to the work

Back to
the little light.

We bring what we’ve learned back to the work—and to the spark that started it.

Inside the shack, warm light falls across wooden workbenches, sketches and small clay creatures.

Welcome to the Grimshack

A place for
what if.

This is Grimshack: a small indie studio turning curious ideas into games, one experiment at a time.

Chapter I The studio

Next: Our first adventure

Small studio. Wild imagination.

Strange worlds.
Room to play.

Every world starts somewhere.
Ours starts with “what if?”

The people behind the little light

We’re Grimshack, a small independent game studio making worlds we want to explore—and giving players room to find their own way through them.

Our work moves between sketches and systems, building and playtesting. We try an idea, see what happens, and keep shaping the parts that make it worth playing.

That work is taking shape in Wick & Ruin, our first co-op adventure. It’s still early, and we’re building it one piece at a time.

Made with curiosity. Shaped through play.

Chapter II Our first adventure

Previous: About the studio

A co-op adventure · Early development

Wick & Ruin

A strange world.
A story you find together.

Step into a world full of possibility—and a fair bit of chaos. What you do with your friends is up to you.

Follow what happens around you. Lend a hand, cause trouble, or see where another choice leads. The adventure grows from what you choose to do together.

Leave room for mischief.

Three pig-like Heg creatures cause a baking mishap: one sneaks a loaf, another scatters flour with a rolling pin, and the elder has dough stuck to his snout.

On the workbench

We have a working prototype. Now we’re beginning to build the first levels.
