Grimshack Games

Chapter I · The studio

Small studio.
Wild imagination.

We’re Grimshack Games, an independent video game studio making strange worlds with room to play.

A warmly lit workshop filled with sketches, tools and small clay creatures.
Every world starts somewhere. Ours starts with “what if?”

From a spark to something playable

How we make a world

Our work moves between sketches and systems, building and playtesting. We follow an idea, explore possible directions, and choose something to build toward.

A prototype makes that idea tangible. It lets us try the mechanics, discover what feels good, and see where the pieces don’t yet fit. When something gives way, we keep what we’ve learned and try another approach.

Then comes the work of bringing systems, characters, and the world together. We playtest, listen, and keep refining how they work as a whole.

On the workbench

Our first adventure

That work is taking shape in Wick & Ruin, a co-op adventure where friends enter a world full of possibility and choose how to respond to what happens around them.

The game is in early development. We have a working prototype and are beginning to build the first levels. We’re planning for Meta Quest 3 and PC through Steam, with cross-platform co-op.

An earlier chapter

From the tabletop

Storytelling has always been part of what we do: creating worlds, memorable characters, and moments of fun and surprise for friends and family.

That led us to Grimshackle, a collection of browser-based companion tools for dungeon masters and game masters. From encounters and characters to taverns, shops, and dice, the tools help with the practical work of running Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Pathfinder 2e, and Daggerheart. They take some of the busywork out of preparing and running a game, leaving the storytelling in your hands.

Making video games is a natural next chapter for us: bringing that same love of shared stories and the unexpected into worlds we can explore together.
